Railway sound barriers are facilities installed on both sides of railways or high-speed railways. Their main purpose is to reduce the noise pollution to the surrounding environment when trains pass through. There are two types of them: one is a reflective sound barrier that only acts as a sound barrier, and the other is a composite sound barrier that combines sound absorption and sound insulation. The latter is more effective. Most railway sound barriers are now composite because they can more effectively control the generation and diffusion of noise, especially for the characteristics of road noise.
